John,

>TAG will be on 185.298 kHz for the weekend, a mere 1 Hz below NC. Format
>will be QRSS30.

Were you home for the big lightening attack at 6:00 last night? I see TAG
is operating up to snuff over here, so that's a good thing.

I got home at 6:30 and found the wallmount power supply had again been
zapped. Took only one regulator to get back in business, though. Joan
reported hearing 3 different SNAPS from the shack (breezeway) so I guess the
damage wasn't so bad, considering...... The 11:00 o'clock News featured a
number of houses that got stuck in the area.

Later on the static from the storm was about the strongest I've heard. There
were times that your normally dog-bone signal was totally wiped out for
minutes at a time! Today the static is strong but not continuous and you are
putting in a nice audible signal in the parking lot here at work.

One of the reasons for the trip to work is that when I took a look at you
signal it must have been so strong that it smoked the monitor! Seriously,
smoke began coming out of the top as soon as I connected the receiver to the
sound card. Found the one of the electrolytics in the power input stage was
actually on fire inside its jacket and it took about 5 min for the smoke to
clear after yanking the plug. Could have had a power surge during last
night's storm that damaged the cap.

Bill
