Good one, Dex. I remember that account about Montana Power when it
aired in the winter. It was so disastrous and chilling then. I wondered
why the stockholders allowed management to ditch the old product (their
power source) for the new dot-com driven by monied NY interests. This
piece call that move an "end run" around them. Tells it all.
So, but this is new for me. "[A]fter being de-listed from the New York
Stock Exchange, Touch America filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection
in June." Oh dear, yet another com for the rubble pile.
And "Touch America now plans to sell off all its remaining assets to
help finance the 14 lawsuits filed against it." Yup, time for the
lawyers to feed.
And the local diner: "And remember the M&M, the local Butte bar and
restaurant that hadn't locked its doors since the 1880s? It has finally
locked them permanently because there wasn't enough money in Butte
passing through them."
T'was something to give pause about.
