[Lowfer] 8 kHz VLF loading coil idea

OK!

NOW I feel that I must weigh in on this because...

...you keep mentioning the folks that build ridiculously huge loading
coils....

...and you all know I did that very thing. But I must defend myself here:

1 I did not know what I was doing. I thought I needed a huge loading
coil because:
a My vertical element is so short (30') I needed much H
b All the coils I saw were big. They only need 1 H, but I needed
about 7.
c I read that it should be fatter than tall
2 Put all that together and it equals a huge coil
3 I did not know what I was doing.

But someone (I think it may have been you, Ed) suggested I try something
smaller, just to get on the air. So I did ... a 7 H coil wound from
telephone frame wire and 8" dia PVC.

That worked great, and I had several signal reports.

Then I got the big one on the air.

But, I didn't understand its behavior. I couldn't understand what was
happening when trying to tune the system.

SO I yanked it, a long time ago. I'm using the small coil.

So I hope you guys don't lump me in with the idiots that should know
better. I didn't know, and am only learning.

So please, I hope you can have a little tolerance :) Hey, I said I didn't
know any better :) :)
