If you want to answer your own question, go to the site where you found
Argo:

and download a copy of Spectran. It was the predecessor to Argo, and is very
adjustable. You can play with the speed and width, choose different sampling
rates, adjust levels, use it as a filter... all sorts of things.

I think you will find that "there's no free lunch." In other words, if you
narrow the BW, you must slow down, or you'll just get a fuzzy blur. But you
might find a compromise setting that will keep you happy.
