Dex, fine on the run down. Even more impressed with your telling how
the inner loop is held. I now see that "pinning" in the Web pic, which
has an overall blue cast, even the pvc pipes (painted? no). I imagine
doing that inner winding akin to laying a coil on the inside of a
bucket. Of course the your pins do the holding.
But had you considered this: Laying the first layer over the tops of
the pipes as usual, then adding spacers, say that pink foam insulation
as a strips, over the tops and next the final winding? I'm thinking the
spacers could be glued w/ an rtv bead. Just maybe.
Ha -- last night I went to the "toy shop" (a local home store) and to
the plumbing section. I wanted to try to conjure a hub section such as
yours. No luck. They didn't have all the fitting types in 1-inch, but
still, I was left holding that 4-way coupling and pretending it would
all slide together. I couldn't -- even knowing no glue was used (allows
it to be more workable). Possibly some of the connecting tubes for the
hub don't fully interconnect, allowing some slack. Maybe that's it....
Ah, &%#@$, may have to try one.

>The inside windings are held in place by a "U" pin of the #14 wire.
...
>The inside windings were made first.
> The U pin was pushed through the pipe and taped in place on
>the winding side then bent at right angle on the other side.
>The outside windings then were laid between the two wires.
