The forward and reverse buttons would be pressed only for a relatively short 
period of time and then released to hear the effect of the tuning change. 
This needs to be tested before the installation to see how it feels.

I guess I could leave the receiver connected via a series DC blocking 
capacitor. I would use a large enough series resistance in the power source 
to prevent large current spikes that would be annoying to hear in the audio 
as well as tending to damage the input of the receiver.
