He goes the "full route" to get all 200+ watts the core will support out at
13.8V.
I believe 12V at 10A is the nominal spec for PC power supplies, therefore
6-8A
should not need bigger diodes and rewound transformers.
Take a look at www.qsl.net/y05ofh/projects and pick the 13.8v_pc_ps
directory and run the 13 8 v whatever page. I don't see/know the path from
his home page. It has the best write up on doing this I've seen. Although
for the 6-7 amps you and I want I don't see the need to re-wind things as he
is talking about. Nor change rectifiers, heat sinks. But how to move the
sense line off of 5v to the 12v output and scale, etc. And a good overall
description of everything going on in those little boxes.
