The local True Value hardware store here in the little town of Aitkin has a
fairly good stock of small stainless hardware, and I would expect other
stores in that nationwide chain to have similar stuff on hand. I used to
have a catalog from a place called something like Small Parts (no, not Dan's
Small Parts) with all kinds of stainless fasteners, but their prices were
about the same as the local hardware store's.

Another source is Digi-Key, if you want to buy in quantities of 100. They
have stainless machine screws, nuts and washers in sizes up to about #12.
