The reasons I will always use the 1750M band for experimentation are:

1) The transmitter final is VERY simple and low in cost. Multiple
transmitters and antennas can be operated at the same time.
2) 1w input represents plenty of signal to map out local coverage up to
100mi. The results, IE: 'signal levels' at all locations will be exactly
1/10 (-20db) of the signal levels at 100w.
3) Experimentation at the final and antenna has no risk of dangerous shock
or RF burn. At 100w the 'creativity factor' is much reduced from fear of
touching the wrong point while making adjustments.
4) Interference to neighborhood radio and television receivers is 10 times
less. No filter is required at the output of the final at 1w. A filter,
definitely required at 100w, usually messes up the efficiency of the final.
This adds an undesirable variable to experimental results.
5) Minimal problems with sending on a frequency currently in use by another
136er.
