I am eagerly awaiting the 137 kHz ham band, and my comments are heavily
biased in that direction...
Unless the FCC changes the requirement, we will still need to identify every
10 minutes on the proposed US LF ham band. So we will either have to use a
modulation scheme that will send a complete call sign within that time
limit, or embed a periodic identifier that uses a faster format such as
"normal" speed Morse.
Personally, I would not devote a lot of effort to any new scheme that
involves visual decoding of slow Morse. Instead, I'd rather see the effort
spent on developing and/or improving modes like JASON and WOLF. QRSS became
popular because it is easy to transmit, and thanks to people like Alberto,
very easy to receive as well. But for me, it's one or two orders of
magnitude too slow for two-way work. Heck, I'm getting old, and I consider
it bad form to die in the middle of a QSO :-)
