Did you adjust the variometer and stand back over 20' to take a field
strength measurement and then go back and forth until it peaked??? I ask
because my vertical is very sensitive to me being anywhere closer than about
20' or so. The signal drops fast as I approach the antenna. Of course I can
grab a hold of my loop and only loose .001 amp of loop current while I am
holding onto it. Those wood fences sure make a nice place to run the lower
run of the loop on. Hint hint...
