Hey!  I thought maybe you had captured a cross-section of the ionosphere
layers!

Seriously, you might try stuffing your converter into a polystyrene foam
box with foam walls about three inches thick.  That will greatly reduce
the drift.  I managed to reduce the drift of my selective voltmeter from
something like 10 Hz to about 1.5 Hz simply by draping a towel over the
cabinet.  OTOH, it does give me a great way to monitor LF signals and
simultaneously keep track of my air conditioner!
