I figured that you must be doing some serious manipulations to get stuff
to print well in the Lowdown!
I've been using Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop for a few years now
mainly for editing digital photos - just started fooling with PCP a few
weeks ago. I've tried quite a few different routines, but in this case
had good luck with two rounds of dilation and then conversion to 2
color. The dilation seemed to work well "fattening up" the thin signal
lines before the other operations were tried. I suspect that different
signal and noise conditions will require a somewhat different bag of
tricks although some general rules might apply across the board.
I put together the following original capture with PCP overlay in one
shot for quick comparison. Also included are two reductions. Many ops
have commented in the past on the enhancement effects when viewing
thumbnails. Capture can be seen at:

Mike S. Please keep us posted on your software progress. Sounds very
interesting!
