The signal strength (a good 20 over S9 on my setup) is exactly what I
remember from CFH. I may try a little DF-ing tonight. Unfortunately, I don't
have a rotator on the loop (Armstrong method).
In any case, they are far enough from the proposed 136 kHz allocation that
there should be no problem. Actually, if it IS CFH, then I'd rather have
them down there than just above 137. It may make a useful propagation
indicator for the EU guys, though.
I seem to recall a thread from a couple of years ago about CFH excercising
standby transmitters on some regular schedule. They may just be doing that
with no plan for normal operation. Big tube rigs should be given air time
(or dummy load time) to keep them dried out, and to identify problems caused
by insects or rodents.
