[Lowfer] "WE" heard in CW locally @30 miles...

Oh yea it is much harder to hear a Lowfer beacon with a portable from what I
have found out. I can't hear Lyle at all even when I go further north of
here with my active vertical and Sangean. I do hear him and the Duluth
beacons with a 75-meter dipole lying on the ground outside and the HP Level
Meter as the receiver. They are S-9 to 20 over 9, or shall say just plain
loud as heck, on the transmit loop with the HP. The KW-440 hears them pretty
good, but nowhere near what the HP does. I suppose if I put up a metal mast
and used the Sangean, I could hear Lyle, but I haven't tried that yet. I am
so swamped for free time around here that it is crazy some days. Hopefully
winter will slow the housework down a bit so I can get out and enjoy the LF
DXing.
