Hi Mike,
Relative to corrosion you are finding in your loop box: Do you have a
vent=20
hole in the bottom to reduce the condensation build-up? I had no idea
this=20
was necessary when I originally set up my loop box and found all kinds
of=20
corrosion going on within a few months. The compression mica tuning=20
capacitors (have dual finals) were found to be loaded with white
aluminum=20
oxide and measured low in Q. John A and others suggested the vent holes,
and=20
since then, there has been no problem with moisture.
You should be able to use an inexpensive compression mica cap for the
tuning=20
instead of the expensive, and hard to find, vacuum variable, or are you=20
staying with the motorized tuning?
Bill
