I did some MW DXing back in Schenectady NY, and occasionally poke around the
band from here near Pikes Peak. My favorite BCB receiving antennas, by far,
have always been beverages, but very few of us can put up a 1000' wire. I'm
fortuate to have a 800' NE beverage for Europe, a 600' ESE beverage for
SouthAfrica/Carribean, and a 600' beverage for Asia. I use them mostly on
80/160M during contests, but on the BCB, I often receive a different station
on each beverage as I tune the frequencies. It's worthwhile going out to the
boondocks sometime and stringing up a 1000' beverage to get an idea of how
incredible they are. When beverages were out of the question, I have had
good luck with various kinds of loops and wires. Which brings me to this
unpaid advertisement. I have a Palomar Engineers loop amplifier with the BCB
loop on Ebay right now. If I am ever to get on QRSS, I need to sell a few
things first.
