Larry,

>your positioning for me. I had one capture last night that was
>very strong from you!

The maximum signal loss for your heading would be -3db (really not that much
of a signal reduction) since you are at a 45deg heading from here. Some
weird scattering effects sometimes improve on this, however. My N/S loop
would yield about the same signal.

>Yes the K9AY gives a good switchable cardioid pattern

**>and I have a very quiet rf environment.**

THAT seems to be my problem with about every report of antenna performance.
There's a pattern here! No pun intended <G>. Seems the guys reporting are in
a low noise environment to begin with. Show me the report from someone
living in 'everyone's typically noisy neighborhood USA', comparing different
antennas!!

Have you (others) seen any LF weak signal comparisons (S/N not signal
strength) between a typical 6ft loop and a K9AY type loop? Didn't Bill
Bowers put together a Lowdown article on this a few years back? Could have
been comparing a K9AY with a 100ft long ferrite cored loop, however. :)
Again, he had a good receiving site, as well! Grrrrrr.

Bill A
