[Lowfer] Loop description...

OK here we go it is 200 feet of wire for the loop. One end of the wire runs
into the tuner box and through the center of a big ferrite bead which has a
few turns of #18 wire on it for the final amp to connect to. The wire
continues through the transformer and connects to a big capacitor. The other
end of the 200-foot wire comes around over the treetops and into the tuner
box on the other side. It connects to the big capacitor in the tuner box.
The big cap is made up from a variable cap to QSY around the band a bit and
a few mica caps. The cap value is determined from knowing the inductance of
the loop and using the correct value caps to series resonate the loop. It is
a big tank circuit that a transformer couples the transmitters signal into.
There are no loading coils in a Lowfer transmit loop. It is a real easy
antenna to put up and get working with only a couple of headaches and maybe
a bad word said to it. Hi Hi.

Hey Mike,

Could you give me a crash course in loop antennas? From hte picture of
your tuner box, it looks like both ends of the loop are terminated, is
this correct? What are the components of your loop tuning box? Is
your loading coil on the other end of that RG-8?
Just curious,
