LowFER FAW from Utah was good copy for several hours last night here in
Minnesota. This isn't a DX record for FAW, because Roger copied him in
Duluth a couple of weeks ago, but at about 1000 miles it's still a pretty
good haul.

I had "both barrels" aimed at Utah, with the IC-706 connected to my balanced
loop/preamp, and the IC-756PRO on the new single-turn loop described at
http://www.qsl.net/k0lr/simple-loop/Simple-Loop.htm The single-turn loop
used my "universal preamp" in the shack. Copy was slightly better on the
single-turn loop, which could be an antenna or a receiver thing; or maybe it
was just a difference in the Argo settings on the two computers.

At times the ID seemed to be "FAW" and at other times it looked like "CAW".
Chris explained that he is sending a 5 WPM CW ID at the beginning of the
message, and that's what makes the first dot look longer when the signal is
strong.
