[Lowfer] WA off for part of tonight

I'm doing some experimentation with receiving antennas tonight so WA will be
off until about 2:00am.
I just installed a 3ft FET input E-probe in a tree back in the woods about
80ft above the house entry level. I'm getting such a high signal level at LF
and strong intermodulation from AM stations that the next experiment with be
to remove the amp. This will work the probe's capacity coupling to the tree
against the 50 ohm input of the receiver and 200 ohm capacitive reactance of
the coax. My sense is that the tree will act like a 50ft tall cylinder with
about 2k of distributed resistance to ground. If I lengthen the probe to
about 10ft I should be able to increase the capacity coupling to the tree
enough to see plenty of signal. I'll let you know later. Has anyone tried
this before?
