[Lowfer] Question on building homebrew variable caps...

Interesting comment/observation, Ralph.  Don't misunderstand me;  I do not
for a minute doubt what someone says who has DONE it ;-)  It does seem sort
of counter-intuitive to me and things like that start me wondering.  Like,
does it fracture because of brittleness, i.e. would 2x the power absorption
in nylon go "un-noticed".  Does the lead content play any part?  Or other
additives?  Would glass from certified-safe-for-microwave dishes do better?
