I use a table saw with a cross-cut carbide blade, a 10" 40 tooth blade
(fairly coarse). I've been cutting Lexan, Lucite, Nylon and Delrin up to 2"
plate and 4" round flawlessly with this arrangement for about six years now.
For some cuts I use a chop saw with the same blade. A 3/8 sheet should be
relatively easy even with little experience. At the proper speed, which you
will be able to determine with a test cut or two, you will get nice little
chips with no melting or burning. If you are familiar with wood cutting,
these plastics are similar to cutting a good solid piece of Fir. If you are
tapping and threading, it works like Aluminum, though Lexan is more brittle
than the others I have mentioned when tapping.
One other thing. The first time I worked with Lexan, I sliced the living
crap out of my finger, the cut edges are RAZOR SHARP!
