All:
I spent a lot of time outside today completely relocating the antenna,
Transmitter and the computer.
The Antenna is darn Square. The bottom horizontal is EXACTLY 50 feet. The
south vertical leg is EXACTLY 50 feet. These two wires make a right angle.
On the other end, the north wire is at ~45 feet but it angles out slightly.
I estimate that there is 47 feet of wire in that leg and 53 feet in the top
leg. That means that the top wire runs from 50 feet down to 45 feet in
altitude. The wire is #12.
The bottom wire is laying on the ground.
The tuning caps are in a Tupperware box.
I am pleased with this installation. It is still close to my metal garage
and 15 feet from my RV (a converted 1982 40' Wayne school bus). So it is
typical of an suburban installation.
The stats:
Frequency: 185.29974
Antenna bearing: 330/150
Key up voltage to the final: 12.18V
Key down voltage with 50 ohm carbon resistor as dummy load: 11.61V
Key down voltage with antenna tuned: 11.38V
Antenna current: .660A
Turns ratio: 7 primary (from exciter), 2 secondary (antenna)
Antenna Inductance: .120 mH
I was unable to measure current as I could find not find a multimeter with
current capabilities or a suitable resistor.
The antenna is located such that I can shoot another halyard, move the north
leg counterclockwise and make the antenna more easterly. But this will also
put that leg within 5 feet of the garage.
Complaints, flames, notes about how loops don't detect Tachyon emissions,
notes about how they CAN detect Tachyon emissions, etc. can bet sent to:
[email protected]
I am sending a separate note describing how I am generating the QRSS30.
