The schematics for the ZL1BPU exciter ARE freely available (and always have
been!)- it's all there on the web site if you care to have a look- now
including a zillion page (actually about 70 odd) manual on the thing!
(downloadable file)
And the code for the AT90S2313 is so close to free from Murray at about the
equivalent of $US5 that I don't think it's an issue.
You do have to use a bit of brainpower though- as a pcb has not been
produced-yet- but the complete 1 watt output unit fits easily on a piece of
veroboard about three inches by five inches --and there's only half a dozen
active devices--challenging-- I think not!
Very cheap? YES!
