The configuration is diamond on the east leg (earlier posting mis-identified
the leg) and square on the west leg with a conifer supporting the middle.
I didn't think shape mattered either until I got "corrected" 8-) about the
direction of Max radiation. Bill's argument is that the vertical segments
are the determinant factor. But there is no arguing with the success of your
signal!
Another naive question: Does the position of the feed point matter? In the
UHF/VHF example, polarization is determined by the position of the feed
point. Now, I am smart enough to understand that we are talking about a
short antenna here but it is wiser to seek the guidance of the Masters than
to assume you are one of them.
