You should be able to easily get the 1 Hz accuracy at MF using John Davis'
zero beating method, particularly if you've got a nice s-meter to watch
while getting close to zero.

The most frequency-stable propagation from 2.5 MHz would be via the D-layer
at mid-day. If you at a distance where that mode is possible, it's very
good. I can copy CHU here in Mass. on 3.33 MHz in that manner, and it
compares very well with my homebrew Loran-C setup.
