John, Stewart and All,
G'day John. Don't feel bad about muddying the waters. Email to-and-fros are
prone to that when you are addressing individual points piecemeal. Stewart
and I got involved in such an exchange a while ago (also involving free energy)
which got into ever widening spirals involving batteries and resistor
analogies. I got so frustrated that I eventually "spat the dummy" and
unkindly accused Stewart of not being serious but merely having fun at my
expense and refused to continue. That was not important as I knew what he was
saying was incorrect - so no long term harm done although my blood pressure did
rise for a short while. That's why when the "eveready" (or Duracell or
whatever common names you have for batteries over there) analogy was introduced
again I enquired whether this was another attempt to hook someone up again.
So Stewart, I apologise for accusing you at that time (must be years ago now)
of malicious intent.
However, now, as before, I contend that you are incorrect in the contention you
have presented. I believe that in this particular case you are suffering from
a misunderstanding of the basic fundamentals of antenna properties. I believe
that includes what radiation resistance is, what the difference and
consequences of the radiation, induction and quasi-stationary fields are - in
particular what happens in the near field compared to what happens in the far
field. The effect of this on losses. The difference between antenna element
losses and ground system losses and the consequences.
John, I believe that you also are misunderstanding the consequences of coherent
addition of fields at a distance. I have found this fairly common.
Having said that, I could be wrong :-)
As this will require an elaborate passage through concepts of the above antenna
properties, I will put down my arguments in a document and when complete I will
post a link to it for all and sundry to criticise. There is an expression in
this country to describe this, but as we are in polite company, I won't mention
it.
In the meantime, as I am outnumbered by at least 2/1, we have to assume Stewart
and John are right, and I am wrong. I will work on the document over the next
week or so and present it when finished. If, in the process of preparing this
momentous document ;-) I disprove my own arguments, I will own up to that as
well. I am not embarassed to question, question, question, something which
later turns out to be correct (the odds are that this will happen here), but I
would be very annoyed to accept something without question which later turns
out to be false. (There has been an incident in this country involving just
this principle recently).
In other words, I will put up or shut up :-)
