It sure looks cool. It looks like 5 signals could fit on the same ARGO-30
screen at once. Now that would look sweet!!!

For those (able to see it or not) who are interested, this F.A.R.T.30 mode
is not a joke, though it's hardly a revolutionary breakthrough. Here are the
details:
The problem is to send alphanumeric text so that it is readable directly on
an Argo screen. The constraint is that with a non-linear transmitter, it is
advisable to send only one "tone" at a time. So vertical lines are
impossible, as are conventional representations of letters like "G", where
you might want several vertical dots at once. You have to pick and choose
where you want the dots to fall, and rely on Argo and your brain to fill in
the gaps. A screen shot of the result can be seen at:

Each of these characters is 10 tones high (in 0.1 Hz steps), and 12 time
units wide. In the current case, each time unit is 30 seconds, meaning that
each character needs 6 minutes to complete. The letter "A", for example, is
coded as "0,2,4,7,4,9,9,4,7,4,2,0", where the numbers represent the offset
frequency in 0.1 Hz. With my transmitter on 185.302, "A" starts and ends on
frequency, with the top being at 185.3029 kHz.
Now I've got to do the other letters, and some of them are going to be
nasty.
