	That may be true for what YOU were taught in elementary school, but now
things are different in the Los Angeles Unified School District.  Kids
are taught in order:

1. How to find and smoke pot,

2. How to play video games,

3. How to find the toilets (most don't ever bother), and finally

4. How to read (sort of).  Current goal seems to be to have kids able to
write and recognize their own names by the time they're through with
third grade.  As for reading general text, that's considered more or
less unnecessary in these days of audio players and recorders; an
obselete and useless skill.

Sorry about that - it's too close to the truth.
