GM Bob - tks for the response. On the Palomar, Ihave no idea what
the schematic looks like. As to the conversion freqs, from their
website, there are only the 3.5-4 and 4-4.5 mhz choices. Since I
would be using it with either my JRC NRD-525, R-390A or 51J3
receivers, I was leaning towards the 4-4.5 mhz conversion for the
same reasons you mentioned. I was just looking for input on this
unit or some other mfr's products (pro - con). I'll make a copy
of your info and hold onto it in case I go with the Palomar.
Ironically, years ago (when in USN) I had both a Collins R-389
(which ended up at U of Mont), a SP-600-VLF (forget where it ended
up) and a MacKay VLF superregen from WWII vintage (which I donated
to the SS American Victory restoration project down in Tampa). Now
that have just retired (from merchant marine) wish had kept some
of the gear.
Agn, tks for the response and I'll still be looking around.
