Hi Jay R, John A, and other loop-lovers,

Hope you guys didn't get the idea that Mitch was not looking equally for you
as well. (It's just that he is on MY payroll <G>)

I just took down the Litz cable for a check-up. Good thing I did because the
tape wrap was worn off at three spots and the silk was about worn through.
Will cover these areas with 1/2 OD rubber hose like I did on the upper east
corner a week ago (which was in good condition and slides in place without a
problem). In the process of taking down the cable I came close to loosing
the leader wire which had a bad bunched up tangle at the end! Found this
mass about 30ft up in the air but was able to snag with a 10ft pole on the
swaying extension ladder.

I am disappointed in the Rac of the RG-8 that I just installed while I work
on the Litz cable. It measured .72 ohms with damp soil. The Litz cable was
about .5 ohms just before removal. Jay, your RG-11 must have a better RF
braid that mine. I had to remove 2 of 14 turns from the primary of the
matching transformer and the input current is still lower than before.

Bill
