Well, I pushed the wire as far as the fence which makes it about 3' away
from the kennel. I looked closer at it before I moved the wire and it was
definitely a foot from the 12' long kennel pipe. I saw no increase in
relative field strength in the house after I pushed the wire to 3' away from
the kennel. I guess this means that the loop doesn't care about objects near
it or it takes a greater distance change between the wire and objects to
really see an increase in radiated signal. My guess is that the loop doesn't
mind being amongst the clutter of a typical backyard. Try that with a
vertical. Hi Hi. When it gets cold and the trees dry out more so than they
are with the green leaves on them now, I will build up my DEX
coil/variometer for my 45' vertical with it's 70' or so flattop and see
which antenna kicks butt on the band. Any bets??? I'll put my money on the
loop, but at least I'll have another antenna to put up another beacon for
when we are yakking on 136 later on. I plan on running a very seriously
large loop for 136 when we get it. Back to the TV.
