Well, I've had a few 20 meter QSOs with W6 stations recently and, if I
remember correctly, most, if not all, were worked a few hours after
local midnight (swedish time, approx. 0000-0400 UTC).

I just plugged today's solar flux and K-index into the W6ELPROP
propagation prediction program. According to W6ELPROP,
0200-0730 UTC is the only usable "window" for the SM6-W6
path on 14 MHz with present solar conditions. I don't know anything
about the ionospheric model used by W6ELPROP and my own
knowledge about propagation theory is just about zero. Anyway,
W6ELPROP's predictions correlates well with the W6 QSOs
in my logbook... SM6-W6 is a "polar path", I guess that even the
slightest aurora will probably kill the signal.

My beacon is currently pumping 5 mW into the ether, contributing
to global warming. I am looking forward to reports from W6 <g>
