Hi Mike:
Just took 80 feet of RG6/U - found the center and cut the shield. Taped and
siliconed and reinforced this center point. Essentially made an 80ft ( 20 ft
per side) square loop. Put a couple insulators 10 feet out from the center
and threw a line up in a few trees about 40 feet up. Lifted it up, brought
the verticals down 20 feet, and tied off. Where the coax met I added F
connectors and a box with a trusty Burhans preamp and it seems to work very
nicely from <<100 kHz to 500 kHz.  Nice signals from both East coast and
West coast NDBs.
So briefly - a 20 foot square coaxial loop - with preamp powered from inside
house, and hung in the trees.  (Armstrong rotator !)

I have made similar loops before (up to 100 ft) and of course what happens,
the signal increases - but so does the noise level. You can only go so far
before the S/N ratio defeats the purpose of the larger loop.

I find the KAZ (squashed KAZ) are as good, if not better, and are much lower
