Hi Folks. Hopefully I have successfully re-subscribed and this will go
thru.
I understand there have been some questions about my beacon operation
on 166.5 kHz. This operation is under the part 5 rules that a group of us
are a part of so within reason, antenna size and power output are not
limited. At present the beacon runs anywhere between 4 and 16 watts output
to the antenna (tonight it is at 16 watts).
The antenna is a combination base and top loaded 30 foot vertical with 6
ground radials (yeah I know - not too good but I am just getting started)
and a single wire 50 foot long capacity hat horizontal wire (which
hopefully will get modified tomorrow with the good weather).
The beacon is sending "BAT" in QRSS-60 mode (CW) followed by a 12WPM
CW ID "WC2XSR/11".
This is the third night I have had it on. As more of the other part 5
stations become operational, it will be on less often to give others
a chance of using the frequency.
I will usually notify on a daily basis if it will be on. It will then
usually be on between 8pm and 7am Central time.
Any reports are appreciated.
