Mike,

Best performance will be achieved if you make the flattop as wide and as
long as possible. For instance, if I could widen my flattop to 8 feet vs. 3 
feet,
it would perform much better.

Less inductance would be required to resonant the antenna, thus less
12R losses, etc.

So, why don't I widen my flattop? Two reasons, I didn't find any suitable
spreaders, and since my taper to a single point for attachment to
masts, I was worried about the flattop tangling in the wind.

I may try to widen it this summer.
