[Lowfer] New List

OK, I'm taking off my flame suit.
I just got back from a weekend trip across the boarder to VT and read all
the postings (to the list and privately to me) and have come to the
following conclusions:
a) I am going to ignore the comments that indicated that the new list was a
sign that the apocalypse was near and that if I really loved the hobby I
would not be so selfish.
b) Many more people thanked me (and thought I took the right step) than
criticized my action. They know what it is like to sit, tuning knob in hand,
all evening wondering if Dex or Bill are doing something different and they
also prefer to glance at the Outlook folder rather than clicking on web
links. It is a matter of personal preference. Some love grits, some don't.
c) I will let the market rule. I thought I made it VERY clear in my posting
that I was not trying to replace anybody. If you like the Message Board then
by all means use it. Please. The existence of another list does not, per se,
force any change in how people enjoy the hobby. It only provides a redundant
e-mail-based service which, in my opinion, has been sorely needed for the
last week or so. If people want to use it, it's there. If not then it didn't
cost me a penny.
To John, Les and the others: Thanks, as always, for your work. I know how
few rewards there are. Rest assured it is appreciated.
When the Lowfer page started I sent a note offering my services. I work with
internet based services for a Fortune "150" company and I would be very
happy to tackle any projects that you guys don't have time for. Just ask.
73,
Mike
