OK, folks, here is a lesson for all of you. Heed my advice!
Let's say you are listening to the low bands by running your 140 foot long
wire into q LF antenna tuner and then into a Palomar VLF converter that is
connected to your new IC-706. I am sure that, like myself, you have
unplugged the microphone so there is no chance of transmitting into the
Palomar. That's good.
Now, here is the lesson:
When you go to unplug the wire to the soundcard that plugs into the
headphone jack, KEEP YOUR FINGERS AWAY FROM THE "TUNER" BUTTON that some
idiot right above it. The slightest air pressure, of course, fires up the
transmitter in low power for the automatic antenna tuner. The transmitter
will proceed to fire up your Palomar.
