That wasn't the fault of the english system vs the metric, but just of
lousy engineering and poor design reviews. Any competent engineer
should be able to do the conversion to whatever precision required. Of
course, computer programmers tend to be different.....

You left out cubits, fathoms, stone, etc. What matters is how you use
dimensions, not the units in which they are expressed.
