I am searching my files desperately at the moment (unfortunately, I'm
stuck in the office all day). I believe that Sheldon was in Hilo, Hawaii
and Mike's beacon was in San Simeon, CA...that is
a distance of 2,333 miles....(and only if I'm correct in my
memory)
If so, that would give the new record to Steve and Dex, breaking a mark
that many thought might stand forever.
Can someone verify the location of both transmitter and listener?
I was sad to discover that the distance from Helena, Alabama to Mayne
Island is only a mere 2,100 miles and some change. But at least it would
get me into the 2,000 mile club! (ha, ha)
And for the record, I think I'm the one who said nothing out of the
ordinary had
been accomplished using QRSS this year. Ouch.
My excuse is that as the senior member of this group (in terms of
history) I'm still trying to get used to 1,000 mile receptions being
almost commonplace. Larry heard my signal over in Maryland this
morning for instance. Even sent some nice screen captures. Ho-hum...
Amazing. Just amazing. My hat is off to you guys!
