Hi Les and others,
"The 500hz filter is really unnecessary for Argo. The software only looks at
a very section of bandwidth (much narrower than 500hz) so it does you no
good."
I'm far from an experienced Lowfer listener (actually it's my first season
with a good receiver) but I occasionally switch in and out the 250Hz upper
IF filter on my R75 receiver to check the effect. It appears to do a good
job of pre-empting the some of the extraneous signals that tend to add noise
to a typical ARGO screen. The AGC action in ARGO also seems to favor the
filter. Curious if others find filtering an advantage, and if so, what is
the preferred filtering scheme, because many receivers can be set up for
multiple filter configurations with a wide range of filter frequencies.
Would think that the ringing characteristic from an overly narrow filter
would be an undesirable input to ARGO.
