[Lowfer] PCR1000 frequency stability

Forgive me if this is a duplicate post. I originally submitted it as a
response to the question on RX-320 frequency stability, but never saw it
come through the reflector.

I recently got an Icom PCR1000 receiver as a Christmas/birthday present and
it seems to be quite stable. Just for kicks, I connected my loop preamp to
the PCR-1000 and tried looking at BRO, who is only about 70 miles from me.
After fiddling with the sound card and receiver level controls for a while,
I still couldn't get the audio gain low enough to keep BRO from blooming on
the Argo screen, so I plugged in a homebrew VHF/UHF biconical scanner
antenna. On LF, it looks essentially like a fat 18-inch whip mounted on a
25-foot mast. No preamp, no matching
