I am using an RX-320 and have had good luck with the stability. I am using
KF5OJ's control software and like his software freq. calibration. It works
great using 20mHz and 2.5 or 5.0mHz WWVB as freq. stds.
The RX-320 frequency is definitely temperature sensitive, but doesn't "stink".
I am working on a temp. correction circuit to adjust the main 14mHz crystal and
hopefully keep it stable over temp. changes. If and when it is complete, I
will send info.
If you are going to use this for QRSS 60, make sure it is calibrated accurately
and then hold the temp. as stable as possible. My unit in the basement has a
worst case drift at 20 mHz of about 30 Hz over temp changes from night to day.
At 60 kHz, this is only about 1 Hz max. At 180 kHz, probably 2-3 Hz.. But not
sure.
I think the radio is fantastic and use it with the K0BRA Active Antenna.
Haven't copied any LOWFERS yet but will happen. Working on a K9AY antenna
now. and/or a large loop.
Don't give up. Put the radio into a styrafoam box, calibrate it after the temp
stabilizes and then check the drift.
Good Luck & 73,
Happy New Year!
