[Lowfer] DX record?

For examples of what 1-watt LowFERs *sound* like at distances up to and
beyond 1000 miles, you can check out the wave files in the "Listening for
LowFERs, Part 2" article on my web site. All of these files are several
years
old, and none are claimed as record receptions, but anyone is welcome to use
the sound clips for LowFER presentations. I believe that beacons OK, TEXAS,
JDH, NC, BA and most others in the collection were carefully kept at the
1-watt level. I know of only one "LowFER" who has run really high power (200
watts or more) in the past few years. Interestingly enough, only a few
people ever heard that beacon, which makes me chuckle when I read the doom
and gloom prophecies about what will happen if high power ham signals are
allowed on 160-190 kHz.
