I still get the feeling that it is far simpler for the LF newbies to avoid
all the work a lot of us have put into antennas to reach a good Q (for
example, the 1000s of collective hours just debating how to achieve a high Q
loading coil?) by just upping that knob labeled "power" only a few notches.
Particularly for me, all I have to do to gain 6db in signal is to double the
width of my E/W loop. Heck I can go to +17db (50 times the ERP of the 50/50
loop) by covering all 370ft out back. Three hours of work max? Why should I
test all different types of loop conductors, or determine the factors
contributing to ground losses just to gain a few db, and just possibly
advancing the state of the art in the process?
