You comments sure are a welcome way of waking up on a Monday following a
tough snowy day out in the back woods most of Sunday!

BTW, I came close to duplicating your 1.5 ohms of Rac with all #8 (which I
purchased Sunday at Sears for <$0.06/ft!). We have to remember the ground
has been full of moisture these days, and on a typical dry spell in the
summer, the antenna current can drop up to 20% after a good soaking rain,
and take days to recover. That would amount to a 40% increase in Rac since
Rac = 1/I^2.
