Maybe there is a way to wind Litz coils and another different way to wind
single conductor wire coils. We know how to get a single wire coil to work,
but maybe there is something special to winding a Litz coil to get a way
higher Q.
Hmmm,

Well, according to the New England Electric Wire web site, the resistance
per 1000 feet of 450 strands of #40 Litz wire at 100 kHz is 2.79 ohms,
versus 51.3 ohms per 1000 feet for the equivalent (65.8 mil) solid wire. I'm
surprised that there is that much difference, because I'd still expect the
current in the Litz wire to be forced to flow on the outside of the bundle.
Ya learn something new every day! But now I wonder why a Litz wire coil has
a Q that is only a factor of two or three better than a solid wire coil; not
18 times better...
