Mike,
Re: Your Loading Coil Project

When working out the particulars of your LF loading coil, don't forget
Lyle's AWG Coil pgm. It's real handy for planning sizes and playing
"what if."

Say one wants to use no. 16 covered wire. The pgm. needs to know
turns/inch for a given wire. So take some wire and lay out a few strands
and project how many will add to an inch length.

It takes a lot of L to resonate a LF vert., like about 3.2 mH for a
base loading. Also consider the L can be made in components, some base,
some middle. The higher, the smaller the wire size too. Lyle had an
article on a LF vert., check it for hints, like adding some taps at lo-Z
points.

The last 5-gal bucket I wound w/ no. 14 house wire, I made a jig to
allow it to rotate while held in a vise. Even then I wished for a third
hand for turning, tension, removing kinks ...

Gud luck on the winding, Mike.
