I am going to try TAG in WOLF mode tonight, starting at 0030 Z. The
frequency remains 177.800 kHz.
It has been a while since there was much WOLF activity. Lyle ran some
successful tests for me this past fall, but I don't think there have been
any WOLF Lowfer signals since November. Lyle has promised some side-by-side
comparisons with BRO, using QRSS60 and WOLF modes. The feeling at the end of
last season was that WOLF was producing close to QRSS60 results, but I don't
recall any "scientific" on-the-air tests.
For those unfamiliar with this mode, the program (DOS-based, so get ready
for the time tunnel) and supporting documentation is usually found at:
http://www.scgroup.com/ham/wolf.html
which is Stewart Nelson's site. Unfortunately, the site is not functional at
the moment! I'll try to have some alternatives later tonight.
